Some paintings come easily and others require more time for development. But something that is imperative in painting, drawing or designing is to "Step Back". I practice this technique quite often with anything I work on. It allows the eyes, mind and energy to reset and recharge, an essential when working intensively.
So when coming back to your work with fresh eyes, and a better perspective; it's like magic that your answers come to the forefront. With the solution either being the need to do more work, or to stop.
A question artist's are asked a lot is, "When do you know if a painting is done?". Well, the short answer is when you're at peace with your work. Art requires intuitive thinking and intuitive response, so it's almost when you feel as if adding more painting will ruin it, when there's already a sense of balance to your artwork. I'll be expanding more on this topic of intuitive creation, intuitive thinking and intuitive response in future blog posts.
With this painting now complete, you can check out two time-lapse videos on my Facebook or Instagram of how I first started the process and to the finished product above. This artwork is now available in my shop under the Organic or Bold Collection titled "Geomagnetism".
